Job Description

We are currently seeking a Technical Engineer to join our MIS team.  The MIS team maintains and develops enhancements for a custom enterprise management system, CRM tool, and other applications. You will implement and support infrastructure that runs MIS applications including the internally developed EMS, Flash, and IT+ applications. We're seeking individuals who can successfully work in a dynamic work environment where priorities change based on current business needs. You must be comfortable with deadline-driven assignments and an agile approach to development processes.
 
About the Role  


As a Technical Operation Engineer, you will:
 


  • Maintain and develop custom tools (including Ansible, Bash, Python, and Batch scripts) for MIS application build, deployment, configuration, and monitoring.
  • Write Ansible and Bash scripts.
  • Ensure the system infrastructure necessary to run both production and non-production versions of MIS applications is up-to-date, available, and reliable.
  • Analyse and/or create business requirements, documentation, and technical specifications in conjunction with MIS Developers and Business Analysts.
  • As a member of the operational support team provide rapid response and issue resolution to the business teams for production issues.
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of components for internal applications (primarily the EMS & Flash applications) and Web Services for use by external products and websites as needed.
  • Gather and expand knowledge in all MIS-supported systems to gain a more well-rounded understanding of overall company processes.
  • Build solid working relationships with MIS team members as well as collaborating with internal customers.
  • Ability to work and adapt well within a team environment.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
     


About You 
You’re a fit for the role of Technical Operations Engineer if you have:  


  • 4+ years of experience implementing functionality in CI/CD tools (Ansible, Jenkins, etc.)
    Strong experience administering, configuring, and patching JBOSS (or other Java-based middleware) for use in a production Linux environment.
  • Good experience supporting Java and JEE/EJB development and design.
  • Experience performing command-line-based Linux administration including writing and customizing Bash scripts – experience in Windows administration is also desirable
  • Experience implementing and enacting application patching strategies.
  • Familiarity with using and maintaining version control systems (Git).
  • Hands-on experience on application monitoring and logging tools such as Datadog and Splunk.
  • Proven skills with a track record of mentoring teammates and the ability to set project goals and delegate tasks.
  • Experienced with Agile processes (Kanban, SCRUM, etc.)
  • Red Hat JBoss certification.
  • Experience on ticketing tool such as ServiceNow is added advantage.
  • Experience with Java Swing applications.
  • Experience with Java JVM support, troubleshooting, and tuning.
  • Experience writing and maintaining Apache Ant build scripts.
  • Desktop Java application deployment and support.
