Finance Officer



Job Description



JOSA is the Jordanian not-for-profit working for the promotion of open source technologies and the defence of technology users in Jordan. One of our current strategic objectives is to sustain the strategic growth of JOSA, through strengthening our online presence, partnerships, skills, infrastructure and financial sustainability.
The Finance Officer will be responsible for the financial health and successful growth of JOSA within our strategic objectives. The tasks and duties are divided as follows:

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES



Consistently analyse financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep leadership informed about JOSA’s financial status. Develop and monitor budgets for the organization and programs/projects. Support accounting, general ledger and operations functions, ensuring that systems are in place to guarantee compliance, timeliness, and accuracy. Provide strategic vision, planning, and oversight of JOSA’s financial outlook.
Assist in identifying and/or obtaining funding opportunities and ensure compliance with grant requirements. Develop plans to address areas of opportunity within JOSA’s financial health and financial processes. Promoting JOSA’s products and services, addressing or predicting clients’ objectives. Market analysis: Conduct research to identify new markets and customer needs. Represent the organization as a member of leadership team Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS



Passionate about JOSA’s mission and values. Preferably, a bachelor’s degree in Finance or a similar field, or a degree in Computer Science (or similar), with strong experience / knowledge of finance. Previous experience in the finance sector, ICT sector and/or in civil society organizations. Previous experience in financial management. Knowledge of Technology and/or Human Rights is preferred. Knowledge of programming is not required, but highly appreciated. Strong time management skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Able to think creatively. Exceptional leadership and communication skills.

REPORTING



The Finance Officer reports to the Executive Director.

JOSA’s mission is to promote open source principles for the good of Jordanian society. We believe that information that is non-personal – whether it’s software code, hardware design blueprints, data, network protocols and architecture, content – should be free for everyone to view, use, share, and modify. Our belief also holds that information that is personal should be protected within legal and technological frameworks. Access to the modern Web should likewise remain open.
