Job Description

Port Control Operations
  • Maintain (radio/wireless) communication with all tenants/vessels in and around SIPC concession area to support seamless sharing of details for smooth operations.
  • Maintain VTS coverage of the Marine activities and vessel movement in and around the Port. (via AIS & VHF)
  • Maintain radio / telephone interaction as required with ships, marine service providers, coastguard, and navy vessels.
  • Collect and maintain hydro / meteorological information from available sources and if necessary to provide this to third parties.
  • Maintain journal / log as per required operational procedures.
  • Contact and inform the Marine Service Providers, Terminal  operators, and all direct and indirect  involved vessels about vessel movement/manoeuvring   from/towards  the berth/anchorage within the concession area repeated
  • Control anchorage area vessel traffic and services; participate in conducting approvals for vessels to enter the concession area, coordinate with vessels during any emergencies, coordinate with relevant parties to assure port security seaside and with marine service providers to achieve daily operations.
  • Participate in conducting authorisations for vessel cargo documents via custom system and maintain proper PMS systems in line with defined standards.
  • Check and report on all Aid to Navigation defects to the concerned parties for timely resolutions.
  • Maintain port vessel management, and report on any delay of vessels or services providers IAW company policy.

  • Participate in the implementation of relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.

  • Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement and sustainability of systems, processes and practices taking into account global best standards, productivity improvement and cost reduction.
Quality, Health, Safety, & Environment
  • Ensure compliance to all relevant quality, health, safety and environmental procedures, instructions and controls so that the safety of employees, quality of products/services and environmental compliance can be guaranteed.
Statements and Reports
  • Prepare sectional statements and reports timely and accurately to meet SIP Group and department requirements, policies and standards.

RequirementsMinimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills
  • 0-2 years’ experience in a similar function.
  • Good judgment, organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take decisions on behalf of the Harbour Master
  • Ability to work under stress.
  • Capable of managing an incident
  • Ability to use a computer with basic office soft-ware
  • Fluent in both English and Arabic (written and spoken).
  • knowledgeable in HSE Aspects
  • knowledgeable in VTS systems
  • knowledgeable in interpretation of METEO / Hydro geographical data
  • knowledgeable in Nautical Charts data and its interpretations & analysis
  • knowledgeable in general port management operations
  • knowledgeable in ISPS / Security standards
  • Knowledgeable in ship handling
  • Knowledgeable in ports rules and regulation
  • Capable of performing effective & efficient planning & scheduling of vessels movement
