Duties and Responsibilities:

Set the overall platform strategy, ensuring the right tools are selected, operational cost is appropriate, and that all teams are aligned to the vision.

Design, deploy, and manage large-scale AWS infrastructures, ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and scalability.

Maintain & enhance the DevSecOps capabilities of the company.

Deep-dive into AWS services, becoming the in-house expert for all AWS-related queries.

Craft and implement serverless architectures that redefine efficiency and performance.

Foster strong relationships with AWS and other strategic vendor representatives, ensuring the company is always ahead of the curve.

Lead and mentor a team of cloud enthusiasts, spreading the AWS wisdom.

Educate and evangelize cloud platform approaches in general, and AWS specifically, with both business and technical stakeholders.

Stay abreast of the latest DevSecOps & AWS trends and technologies, ensuring the platform strategy is always cutting-edge.

Key Competencies/Skills:

Proven experience managing large-scale AWS environments and DevSecOps pipelines.

Strong familiarity with AWS services, including the foundational services (EC2 and complex VPC configuration a must) plus serverless offerings like AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, and API Gateway.

Previous engagement and strong relationships with AWS support and solution architecture teams.

Ability to articulate complex cloud solutions in layman's terms.

A developed Security Sense to highlight and remediate potential gaps in the security posture.

An opinionated view on Infrastructure as Code, and how to get the best out of the practice.

Hands-on understanding of common DevSecOps tools such as CI/CD pipelines, Trivy, SonarQube, or the AWS offerings.

Insight into monitoring and observability, and how best to ensure issues are identified and rectified in the shortest time possible - or ideally prevented in the first place.

Leadership experience with a flair for mentoring and growing teams.

AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate required. Other AWS Certifications are highly desirable.
