Specialist (Nursing), Department of Anesthesia


Entity: Aga Khan University Hospital


Location: Karachi, Pakistan


Introduction:

Responsibilities:


You will be responsible to:


  • conduct clinical reviews of patients alongside staff, serving as a resource person to devise strategies for staff management and competency development to enhance patient care outcomes
  • conduct teaching activities related to clinical care, staff development, and assisting in patient care management daily, including staff performance evaluations
  • ensure competency development while evaluating nursing staff performance
  • monitor nursing staff skills to identify gaps in theory and its application in practice
  • ensure timely updating of credentials, participating in establishing care standards with unit staff, and monitor care delivery according to established standards
  • monitor and facilitate clinical outcomes of patients and developing and monitoring clinical indicators
  • review clinical care processes of assigned areas and clinical care guidelines
  • collaborate with infection control teams to investigate and address incidents or outbreaks related to instrument sterilization or equipment contamination
  • participate in quality assurance activities, including conducting audits and performance evaluations of OR/RR/SDC/CSSD processes to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices
  • collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare providers to optimize patient outcomes and satisfaction.

Requirements:


You should have:


  • a BScN or Post-RN BScN degree from an accredited school, preferably with a MScN or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline, and a valid license from the Pakistan Nursing Council
  • at least six years of relevant experience, including 2-3 years in clinical teaching at a tertiary care hospital
  • excellent exposure to teaching and learning, developing educational plans, conducting independent courses, and implementing in-service sessions
  • certification in specialty-based competencies, including BLS, ACLS, ECG interpretation, ventilation management, Hemodialysis, etc
  • strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • willingness to work in shift duties.
