Role Purpose
The Director of EMS & Disaster is responsible for the strategic planning and execution of all emergency’s medical services and disaster management operations. This includes the coordination of all efforts to prepare, respond to, and recover from disasters, as well as the oversight of all EMS personnel and resources.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES
Key Accountabilities & Activities
- Develop and implement strategic plans for the EMS & Disaster department.
- Oversee the recruitment, training, and performance of EMS personnel.
- Coordinate with local, regional, and national agencies to prepare for and respond to disasters.
- Ensure compliance with all regulations and standards related to emergency medical services and disaster management.
- Manage the department's budget and resources.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the EMS & Disaster department.
- Lead the response to major incidents and disasters, coordinating resources and personnel.
- Oversee the maintenance and readiness of all EMS equipment and vehicles.
- Provide regular reports on the department's activities and performance.
- Ensure the continuous professional development of all EMS personnel.
- Lead the development and implementation of disaster preparedness programs.
- Manage relationships with other emergency services agencies and stakeholders.
- Ensure the health and safety of all EMS personnel.
- Lead the investigation and review of major incidents and disasters.
- Develop and implement community outreach programs to promote disaster preparedness.
BACKGROUND, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in emergency medical services, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Experience in disaster management and response.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and make critical decisions.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards.
- Experience in strategic planning and budget management.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with various stakeholders.
- Experience in training and development of personnel.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Proficiency in emergency management software and technology.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Medicine, Public Health, or related field.
- Residency Of Emergency Medicine.
- Fellowship in Emergency or Disaster.
