GIS Specialist

We are seeking a skilled GIS Specialist with expertise in cadastral mapping, parcel plans, and deeds to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geographic information systems (GIS), cartography, and land records management.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain cadastral mapping databases, including parcel boundaries, ownership information, and land tenure records.
• Digitize and georeferenced cadastral maps, deed documents, and other land records using GIS software.
• Perform data quality assurance and validation to ensure the accuracy and completeness of cadastral information.
• Coordinate with land surveyors and other professionals to incorporate survey data and legal descriptions into the cadastral database.
• Update parcel attributes, ownership records, and land use classifications based on official records and field surveys.
• Generate custom maps, reports, and spatial analyses to support land administration activities and decision-making processes.
• Collaborate with government agencies, land registry offices, and community organizations to exchange cadastral data and information.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Science, Surveying, Geography, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in GIS data management, with a focus on cadastral mapping and land administration.
• Proficiency in GIS software such as Esri ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar platforms.
• Strong understanding of cadastral principles, land surveying techniques, and legal frameworks governing land tenure.
• Experience working with cadastral data standards, parcel fabric models, and cadastral mapping workflows.
• Familiarity with deed documents, land titles, and cadastral survey records.
• Excellent spatial analysis skills and attention to detail in data interpretation and manipulation.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively to meet project deadlines.
• Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on finding practical solutions to complex cadastral mapping challenges.
• Knowledge of web mapping technologies, GPS data collection methods, and remote sensing techniques is desirable.
