Head of Network Operations

We are looking for a dynamic individual who can drive innovation and knows what it takes to operate a complex geographically dispersed technology infrastructure. Whilst the primary role is ensuring operational up time of the infrastructure the role needs to also be forward looking as well as educating technology and senior business leaders with the art of the possible. A head of infrastructure operations is responsible for making sure that NEOM’s infrastructure keeps running, and is stable at all times.

The Head of Operations is in charge of NEOM’s infrastructure assets and also supporting processes and tools. NEOMS’ current infrastructure assets cover the technologies of: undersea cable, fiber, 4g/5g, FTTx, satellite, datacenter and edge infrastructure. NEOMS’ technology infrastructure business operates as a wholesale provider providing infrastructure services to Retail Services Providers and Cloud operators. This is likely to evolve and expand over time and the Head of Operations is required to lead and help develop the future strategy. The role is to reviews the services being rendered by suppliers and vendors and decides on what aligns with the NEOMS’s needs.

Requirements

• Lead and mentor an operational team to drive a cohesive and highly available infrastructure for NEOM Tech and Digital
• Lead the selection, ongoing review and adoption of best practice operational processes and solution
• Work with service delivery partners on the availability and operation of the infrastructure
• Develop and maintain long term operational strategy for NEOM T&D infrastructure that will help enhance and achieve long term goals for the company
• Responsible for managing all communications with T&D infrastructure customers, preparation of required reports, and resolving technical issues
• Responsible for the regular review, maintenance, and upgrade of important components of the infrastructure for continuity and/or recovery plan in the case of disaster
• Ensure that the infrastructure department complies with requirements, regulations, and policies
• Allocate (based on priority) necessary resources for the execution of infrastructure projects.
• Help define the overall technology vision and strategy and own the long-term architectural roadmap for infrastructure
• Evaluate emerging technologies and incorporate these into the technology vision
• Deliver prototypes as required to demonstrate the value of new technology
• Evaluate the cost of ownership of products, ensuring the right operational model is being considered whether built, licensed or bought.
• Identify and implement opportunities for innovation and improvement in operational best practice

Requirements – Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

The following are the major requirements and qualifications usually set by most employers to be satisfied by applicants for the network operations manager job:

• Worked in a fast paced, transformational environment partnering leading operations
• Extensive experience in software development
• Roughly 10 years of infrastructure operational experience, 5 years in a leading position
• Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with Architects, IT Management and developers
• In-depth knowledge of network and cloud architecture principles, patterns and practices
• Excellent communication skills, in both written and oral/verbal
• Good organizational and time management skills are needed. This can be shown through the ability to prioritize duties in the face of multiple projects/tasks and meet/beat deadlines
• Good interpersonal skills are needed to enable the operations manager work effectively with individuals across different units or even within the same unit
• Strong analytical skills
• Must have the ability to display a great level of creativity while carrying out daily work routine
• Possession of good leadership attributes and ability to work as part of a team
