Job Description

  • Assumes responsibility for the coordination of activities related to Infection
  • Performs systematic and proactive surveillance activity for patient and non-patient area of the hospital.
  • Assume responsibility in conjunction with Infection Control Director, for the planning and implementation of Infection Control programs for the hospital in keeping with established standards.
  • Participate in the planning, development and implementation of in-service education programs directly related to Infection Control for current hospital staff and activities related to the new employee orientation program.
  • Ensure the establishment and maintenance of standards for Infection Control on a hospital-wide basis.
  • Review and evaluate all procedures and policies related to Infection Control and provides interpretation for Head Nurses, other Departmental Managers/Section Heads and Professional Staff in conjunction with Infection Control Director.
  • Collaborate with the Infection Control Director and Infection Control Committee and assists in the development and revision of the Infection Control Policies and Procedures.
  • Review and evaluates products like disinfectant and chemicals for infection prevention purposed, including equipment for the same purpose.
  • Establish, maintain and evaluate a comprehensive record system for all isolated patients and determines the incedince and prevalence of nosocomial infection on a monthly basis.
  • Identify reportable diseases and report to the Ministry of Health in daily, weekly and monthly bases as needed.
  • Assesse employee and their environment of injury/illness risks and implement safety precautions and follow-up procedures.
  • Perform post-exposure follow-up as needed, including hospital staff, patients, and first responders, coordinating with employee health as needed.
  • Collaborate with appropriate administrative and medical staff in maintenance of patient care standards that relate to Infection Control.
  • Initiate and participates in programs and projects which enhance the mission of Infection Control within the hospital.
  • Plan and prepare infection control reports on a quarterly and annual basis which are submitted to the Asst. Director General of Medical Affairs, Infection Control Committee, administration and all required departments of the hospital as defined by the operating procedures of the hospital under the direction of Infection Control Director.
  • Review the quality of environmental cleanliness on a regular basis and reports concerns to the Infection Control Department and appropriate Department Section Head for resolution.
  • Investigate significant outbreaks of infection to identify the source of the problem and the resolution in consultation with the Infection Control Director, the Director of Clinical Medical Services and the Infection Control Committee Chairman.
  • Identifies any occurrence not consistent with the operation of the hospital or standard of service for patients, employees or visitors and situations that put patients, staff or visitors at risk for injury or other harm through the chain of command.
