General Job Description
The Project Coordinator (PC) will have the responsibility for the successful, proactively managed daily operations of sea, air and road freight forwarding activities within their assigned operations team in deugro.
Your duties and responsibilities will include:
- Diligent handling and coordination of freight forwarding activities.
- Handling and managing general cargo and project shipments, including full operational (technical) and cost control / profitability (commercial) aspects.
- Serving as a point of contact for clients, partners and other offices for any project operations-related issues
- Actively develop client relationships and be integral to delivering service levels that meet or exceed their expectations.
- Maintain positive, compliant contact with vendors/suppliers, carriers and sub-contractors.
- Shipping all kind of cargo, including out-of-gauge and heavy lift cargo across the globe.
- Coordinating and negotiating with subcontractors, sourcing competitive rates from potential subcontractors.
- Calculating and monitoring project profits.
- Supporting sales team in writing up offers and proposals to clients.
- Administration and support in daily business activities in a global business environment.
- Supporting management (local and regional) in reporting, etc.
- Contribute to KPI achievement (personal & departmental).
- Comply with and contribute to the improvement of customer SOPs.
- Uphold deugro's culture of continuous improvement in quality, compliance, health & safety, technical superiority and security.
- Ensure company policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Issue / process sales / vendor invoices respectively.
- Follow up and call forward vendor LPOs.
- Follow up with agents and sub-contractors for PO status / developments.
- Prompt and pro-active update of POs on tracking tools / system.
Your contribution:
- Successfully completed training in the field of freight forwarding.
- Work experience in the freight forwarding industry.
- Proven track record of successfully executed logistics operations, coordination and management.
- Know-how in freight forwarding; experience in ocean freight, incl. break bulk, is an advantage.
- Familiarization with current software packages such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Knowledge in cargowise will be an advantage.
- Good organizational skills, customer-focused with attention to detail.
- Excellent communications skills (cross-functional and cross-cultural).
- Fluent English skills, both written and verbal is an advantage.
- Must be a strong team player and be motivated to work under their own initiative.
- Problems / challenges should be identified proactively, and solutions suggested and implemented in an efficient and pragmatic manner.
- Maintain the highest possible service levels to deugro's customers and ensure (to the best of their ability) that no service failures occur.
