Role Purpose


To manage senior stakeholders, deliver allocated scope of the audit plan on time and within budget, be an ambassador of NEOM Internal Audit (NIA), support, and develop NIA Managers and junior team members, and manage co-source requirements/ resources.



KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES



Technical Programme Assurance Skills


  • Develop strong relationships and open lines of communication with all internal and external stakeholders across NEOM to support creation and maintenance of Programme Universe and update Programme Assurance Director on key changes / plans.
  • Identify key risks from risk registers and previous audits / reviews to inform scoping and ensures that the Terms of Reference are communicated to stakeholders sufficiently in advance of the commencement of any audit, ensuring that emerging risks are proactively understood and reported to the Programme Assurance leadership in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that the Programme Assurance Leadership and CIAO are kept abreast of any significant audit issues as and when these arise and that the observations and next steps are agreed with all relevant stakeholders prior to circulation.
  • Ensure that robust and meaningful action plans are agreed and developed with the assigned owners to address significant observations.
  • Evaluate how management actions and recommendations are being addressed and identify opportunities to improve management buy-in and ownership through external examples and industry good practice.
  • Support the Programme Assurance Leadership and CIAO by performing any other related activities (e.g. special projects, department initiatives, due diligence, etc) to provide additional assurance as and when required.

  • Able to quickly discern relevant and valid criteria and think/ operate in a non-linear fashion so as to work smarter and innovatively, demonstrating a wide range of hard and soft skills, including but not limited to high attention to detail, financial and business acumen, and immense integrity.
  • Foster strong relationships and open lines of communication with all stakeholders within NIA and across NEOM, developing appropriate and relevant reporting, to ensure they are aware of upcoming activities, matters under progress, and the status of open issues.
  • Review existing practices and procedures around governance, positioning, and responsibilities of portfolio management.
  • Take ownership of drafting reports and other deliverables to ensure on-time delivery.

Working at NEOM Pace


  • Able to deliver at pace and produce outputs when confronted by obstacles, delays, competing priorities, and tight deadlines, overseeing a portfolio of activity and Programme Assurance reviews to ensure they are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Keep self, colleagues, and stakeholders focused on delivery requirements, managing expectations, removing blockers, and delivering on time and to expected quality, monitoring timelines, milestones, and quality of deliverables to ascertain if there is any time or cost overruns incurred by partners
  • Support Management by ensuring that work requirements and expectations are communicated to colleagues and partners prior to the start of associated activities in a timely manner, identifying areas where co-sourcing is needed to complement IA’s requirements, considering resourcing needs and existing skill sets.
  • Develop co-source relationships to ensure seamless delivery of review programmes, preparing a co-sourcing budget which aligns to the plan for approval by the CIAO.
  • Quality check of Audit Committee and Executive papers and present findings to the Chief Internal Audit Officer (CIAO) for areas relating to assigned portfolio of work.

Departmental Leadership


  • Role model NEOM Values demonstrating effective leadership to all NIA team members.
  • Ensure that methodology and best practices are adhered to during the execution of reviews and projects, delivering review findings with confidence in both the Programme Assurance findings walkthrough and the closing meetings.
  • Support effective team working by providing leadership, performance guidance, and support across the team through coaching, feedback, and mentoring, making sure that Managers and Leads are managing and leading in ways that ensure effective utilization, growth, and staff engagement.
  • Ensure workloads across the team are managed effectively to deliver business plan and audit plan, actively developing managers and leads to support their workload, deliver a variety of experience and opportunities to develop knowledge across the wider NEOM group.
  • Ensure Programme Assurance team are working within the budget process of all reviews on the yearly plan ensuring that costs are managed, and overruns discussed with Programme Assurance Leadership and CIAO in good time.
  • Understand and proactively manage IA leading practices and support the evolvement of NIA into a world-class audit function.
