Job Description

About the Role

Media.Monks Middle East is looking for a Arabic Copywriter who can wield words comfortably in Saudi Arabian dialect, wisdom and wit as they cover everything from social content, newsletters to print and display advertising. If you’re keen to work as part of a global team, have a good understanding of specifically Saudi Arabian culture and keen to produce integrated work for a world-class client, this job represents the sweet spot.

Based in Riyadh, this position will be part of a dedicated team embedded in our Riyadh office and often interacting with our client in their office, so client-facing experience and willingness to travel is a must.

Role & Responsibilities
  • Working as part of a global group of talent on both local and international assignments, you’ll operate across teams and time zones on projects big and small.
  • Handle large-scale requests along with single lines of copy.
  • Specialise in creating digital content including website content, social content and display and video ad copy.
  • Use data-driven insights to help personalise content across the entire customer journey—from awareness campaigns to e-commerce copy.
  • Your writing ensures that the content is in line with the project’s specific objectives and the client’s even-more-specific expectations.
  • In addition to all kinds of user-facing content, you may also be required to produce copy decks and/or copy proposals.
  • Contribute to improving our workflows, best practices and client relationships across brands.
  • You will be required to adapt copy from English, not translate it
  • Your job is to ensure everything makes sense, is consistent, and meets the client’s objectives.
Requirements
  • We’re looking for a bi-lingual English and Arabic copywriter with 4+ years of experience and a knack for working at an international level.
  • You are familiar with the local and regional Arabic cultural scene, and how it translates through digital platforms, music, books etc…
  • Your writing is both clear and compelling.
  • You have a keen pulse on everything on and offline, particularly Arabic content
  • You can produce quality content out of thin air as well as based on briefs or input written by others.
  • You know about the good, the bad and the ugly of programmatic advertising and behavioural targeting in order to write effective, dynamic copy.
  • You have a proven ability to tackle the same topic from a variety of angles
  • You combine creativity with critical thinking; your analytical approach means you ask the right questions and make sense of complex content and marketing strategies.
  • You’re comfortable and capable of presenting work to clients in English—always able to rationalize your choices and considerations to win people over with your words.
  • As part of a constructive feedback loop, you can give and handle critique without making it or taking it personally.
  • As a copy editor, you are the change you want to see in the word — you improve what is said, not just how.
  • Your attention to detail is close to annoying: typos, inconsistencies and questionable punctuation marks have little chance of getting past your cursor.
  • You’re comfortable jumping in and out at any stage of a project—from first ideas to final words—always delivering tight work, even under tight deadlines.
  • You have a great sense of personal responsibility and eagerly go the extra mile if that’s what it takes to make good great.
  • Big projects don’t scare you, and no task is too small for a rounded and well-executed content strategy.
  • You deeply care about effect and conversion while valuing the user’s time more than anything in the world.
  • You are in love with the Arabic language and can strategically piece it together to form an emotional copy just as well as  funny, short, and engaging digital content.
