Is it right to label a candidate as "OVER QUALIFIED" and reject him at an interview even before his skills are tested?

A job posting just mentions the basic qualification thats required for a candidate at the time of his application.According to me,any person is not overqualified for a job,all that matters is his skill, his will power and "can do" attitude. If the candidate adheres to the terms & conditions of employment, the nature of job offered, his duties an responsibilities and also the renumeration he is being offered,he is well qualified for the job.

Qulafication is a basic criteria but the skill set is what matters the most.

Well Over qualification is pretty much subjective, Some candidate may be over certified yet under experienced and in another case someone may be under decorated with certificates yet over experienced yet he/she should address this topic and find a medium ground to future prospects. It can be tricky but I have found a rainbow of people who are well decorated yet their career objectives aren't so colorful.

Sorry For my Answer , but I have another point of view , Yes sometimes there are persons who are over Qualified according we have Seniors as sample but we have minimum budget for that level as Seniors have level in between , also if I look for Supervisor and he / she have Physical experiences even without any Certificates but the boards or higher managers have Budget for that title to go through.

Normally interviewers identify a candidate as over-qualified or under qualified during the job interview. Because aside from the CV itself that states your qualification and skill set,the way your market yourself during the interview allows them to decide if you're fit or not. So, if they think you are over-qualified for the position then I think that is just right because the tendency for those over-qualified candidates is to get bored due to lack of new learning which they already learned beforehand and they would probably leave and seek for a new job that suits their knowledge and capabilities. And more importantly, over-qualified candidates usually ask a higher salary as compared to the market.

yes , because we can not give remuneration against his qualification and there are much chances to leave job when other organization provide him job according to his qualification.

Over qualified is better than less qualified to meet the job requirements. In this case, employer may adjust his or her salary according to knowledge, skills and abilities.

In my view, if you felt somebody is overqualified, then you don't consider him or her at all.Because they might be realizing only after joining the job that his current profile doesn't match for his qualification. This thought will always running in his mind and organization will lose him in quick time.

In today's economy it is not advisable to label anyone as over qualified. The reason being is that in most countries have a high unemployment rate and jobs are difficult to come by. If an individual drops his standards to get a job that he/she is over qualified for then he/she is in a desparate situation. The bottom line is can they do the job?
