The main difference between leaders and managers is that leaders have people follow them while managers have people who work for them. A successful business owner needs to be both a strong leader and manager to get their team on board to follow them towards their vision of success .

A manager is someone who manages and is responsible for the important aspects of a job, project, or team.

A leader is someone who is influential, takes charge, and is an example for others.

Managers have people who work for them and they call them subordinates while leaders have followers and call their group a team.  A leader can be a good manager but it doesn't follow that when you're a manager, you can also become a good leader.  Managers maybe good planners, organizers and coordinators however, there are some who lack the ability to inspire and motivate people who willingly work for them out of respect; and leaders do inspire and motivate and naturally acquire the respect of people working with them... Leaders are born, Managers are made...
