From my point of view, body language shows much more about us than we can imagine; for example in an interview or in a professional meeting. Verbal communication as well as body language provide all information about our feelings and our way.

Writing is another form of communication and it provides a lot of information (about our personality) if it is analysed by a graphologist.

Verbal communication is critical when wanting to ensure that individuals understand exactly what you require in an action, product or service.

Verbal communication however, will mostly be accompanied by non-verbal actions (intonation in voice, mannerism, body language, emoticon when electronically done)  e.g. when explaining a concept a raised eyebrow may indicate sceptisim.  Distant look - may mean that someone isn't totally 'present'.

Sometimes it is important to read what is not being said, between the lines etc.

i believe all communication types are important.verbal communications are not enough for a good salesman or marketer as an example,.

body language says much more and is of great importance. we communicate with verbal as well as body language, and other written ....etc..

you can tell if some customer is interested   or saying the truth by his body language,he might be saying no i am not interested but if you know body language you might decide differently.

you must master all communication channels if you want to really succeed .

I think that an advantage of verbal communication is that you can insure getting feedback to insure that the receiver received what you ment to send. I also think that other types of communications like emails could help preparing for verbal communication to enhance its effectivness. All parties will prepare for an effective verbal communication.
