Job Description

Job Summary:


We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Operations Specialist to join our remote finance team on a part-time basis, working 15 hours per week with flexible hours.


The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles and practices, with the ability to manage and optimize accounting operations in a virtual environment. The Accounting Operations Specialist will be responsible for bookkeeping, processing payments, managing invoices, and working closely with stakeholders, while also ensuring compliance with accounting standards and assisting with process improvements.


This position requires availability for a minimum of 2 hours between 10AM and 4PM Cairo time on two days per week.


Responsibilities:


  1. Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including bookkeeping, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger activities, and treasury management.


  2. Process payments and invoices in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring proper documentation and communication with stakeholders.


  3. Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.


  4. Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies.


  5. Collaborate with other departments to streamline and optimize accounting processes, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing best practices.


  6. Assist in the preparation of financial reports, such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, for internal and external stakeholders.


  7. Develop and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.


  8. Perform ad hoc financial analysis as needed to support management decision-making.


  9. Assist in the preparation of the annual budget, forecasts, and financial audits.


Requirements:


  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.


  2. From 2 to 3 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a similar role.


  3. Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.


  4. Proficiency in accounting software, such as Xero and experience with Google Workspace applications (Google Sheets, Docs, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel).


  5. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.


  6. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work with a high level of accuracy. 


  7. Self-motivated, Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with team members and stakeholders in a remote environment.


  8. Knowledge of financial analysis and reporting tools is a plus.
