About the team
The Expansion team is at the center of bringing the Careem Everything App to new cities across the region. With more than 20 products operating on our platform, Careem has a proven ability to build products that simplify and improve the lives of our customers. The expansion team is responsible for scaling these products to new cities in an efficient way. It will be part of the team’s mandate to lay down a clear path for our expansion across our footprint and work with GMs and cross-functional colleagues to deliver on it.
What you'll do
The role is at the center of expansion and is responsible for quarterbacking the launch of new cities in the network. You would be responsible for developing the strategy of where and how to launch, which verticals to focus on and supporting the execution in the 0 to 1 phase to ensure the success of the Careem EA in that city. You will interact regularly with our senior leadership team and key stakeholders in the vertical who will be your partners in execution. You will need to maintain a strong understanding of market realities and be very close to the customer.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Define the expansion strategy for Careem at a market level by building a deep understanding of customer needs, understanding the macro realities of markets and factoring in the competitive landscape. Support execution of vertical launches by defining the Go-to-market plan and ensuring tight project management against the plan Track progress, review data and find opportunities to drive improvement on key growth and experience metrics Support business teams in planning and analysis of high impact initiatives, e.g. provide fact- based support to key challenges, help with problem identification and structuring, advise on the realities of strategy implementation and org / operating model change topics around it Work with the company’s senior leadership on a daily basis
What you'll need
The ideal candidate will have a passionate commitment to improving the lives of people, an insane focus on excellence and customer service, and a strong alignment with our core values and purpose. They will have a mix of defining strategy and driving execution, especially in an startup environment.
Additional qualifications include:
5+ years of experience in professional environments, especially working with the strategy arm of a leading tech company and/or a top tier management consulting firm MBA from top business school preferred A passion for and demonstrated experience working with technology companies including internet, super app, and marketplace focused companies Comfortable with continuous engagement with C-level and Senior Leadership Strong analytical and communication skills (both verbal and written) Strong team-play, comfortable with cross-team collaboration Prior experience in a senior position in a super app company or relevant adjacencies is a plus Humble and hungry to learn something new
