About the role


We are looking for a Legal and Compliance Officer to ensure that our operations and business transactions follow all relevant legal and internal rules. You will be required to ensure that the company operates in a legal and ethical manner at all times while meeting it’s business objectives.


Responsibilities


    • Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
    • Create sound internal controls and monitor adherence to them.
    • Draft, revise, and negotiate company policies, contracts, agreements, letters and other legal documents.
    • Ensure contracts comply with legal requirements and mitigate potential risks
    • Proactively audit processes, practices and documents to identify weaknesses.
    • Evaluate business activities (e.g. investments) to assess compliance risk.
    • Collaborate with external auditors and HR when needed.
    • Set plans to manage a crisis or compliance violation.
    • Provide legal advice and support to management and other departments on a wide range of legal issues as well as train employees on regulations and industry practices.
    • Keep abreast of internal standards and business goals.
    • Handle Anti-money laundering matters and provide legal advice for execution.
    • Prepare and submit legal documents and applications to the DED on behalf of the organization.
    • Handle criminal/civil cases involving the organization, including investigations, defence strategies, and court appearances if need be.
    • Record accurate minutes of board meetings, ensuring all discussions, decisions, and action items are documented- (Recommended to know how to record the minutes)
