As a critical member of a 4-person legal team, managing
and advising on the company's legal affairs, including SNP [ship/ sale
purchase], charter party contracts and disputes, insurance claims, vendor
agreements, ship financing and other commercial matters with Flag, Class and
Underwriters.
Provide sound legal advice to the various SNP,
Operations, Chartering and Finance departments, including general corporate and
commercial advisory for the company.
Litigation management of contentious disputes
with an external panel of legal counsels and law firms in all major
international shipping markets for ongoing and developing arbitration/court
proceedings matters.
Compliance and regulatory due diligence and
sanctions advice on counterparties, vessels and corporate authorities.
Identify, analyze and assess (contractual and other) legal and compliance
risks.
Attend and speak at international conferences/seminars/meetings
relevant to legal and compliance matters.
Requirements
Qualifications
Minimum LL.B or equivalent bachelor's degree in
law.
LL.M in Maritime law / Commercial law preferred.
Minimum Six years post-qualification experience
working at maritime law firms with a proven record of resolving disputes
successfully.
Past employment as an in-house legal counsel for
a ship-owning group.
Competent IT user capable of working across
multiple IT systems (MS Office + In house systems).
Skills
