Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:


  • The Procurement Engineer will be responsible for the daily execution of the tendering process, reviews and analysis of company risks associated with each tender, accountable for the collation and submission of the tender proposals in accordance with client Invitation to Tender (ITT) requirements.

MAJOR FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE:


  • Should be able to analyze the Steel Structure drawings in Steel Fabrication.
  • Check the quantities from the CAD drawings.
  • Should have experience in finalizing the sub-contractors.
  • Finalize material suppliers for Steel Structure drawings in Steel Fabrication.
  • Coordinate with the Design, Estimation team & Project team for multiple projects at the same time.
  • Finalize contractors and kick start project on receipt of the permit as per BOQ, Budget & Drawings at the right time as per the Company approved payment terms.
  • Good communication skills in English & Hindi will be preferred.
  • Good knowledge of Excel, Word, CAD etc.
  • Liaising with Project Coordinators/Planning Engineers/Site Engineers/Stores for Materials, equipment's on a daily basis.
  • Responsible to obtain quotations for materials & machines from different vendors.
  • To negotiate terms with vendors and engage them for long term mutually beneficial business relationship.
  • Coordination with vendors for delivery of materials/goods on time.
  • Confirming Purchase orders, Generating LPO & liaison with Finance for clearing Funds.
  • Obtaining Feedback from stores on receipt & quality of materials/equipment. Mobilizing & de-mobilizing sites.
  • Assisting Construction Manager in monitoring operational costs, preparing statistics & budget variations etc.
  • Tracking site material consumption. Demand Planning for each category.
  • Enter and monitoring the data in computerized system.
  • Arranging materials for inspection & certification purposes. Managing supplier files/records.
  • Regular market research and carrying out regular vendor ratings.
  • Responsible for preparing weekly/monthly/yearly reports and sending to all concerned parties.
  • Other responsibilities as maybe assigned from time to time.
  • Should be well versed with materials related to interior turnkey works such as building materials, Steel Fabrication .and special items as required.
  • Have a strong and recent database of suppliers and subcontractors to source materials/works for in Steel Fabrication.
  • Negotiating and administration of local purchases, hired skilled workers and subcontract works.
  • Stock and materials management.
  • Ensure all invoices/bills of contractors and suppliers to be pre-approved by the cost control and immediate reporting manager.
  • Work closely with the design and projects team to arrange materials for sample board presentations.
  • Assist the estimations team for product pricing as and when required.
  • Ensure all purchases are done subsequent to an order confirmation related to the project, and as instructed.
  • Ensure timely and accurate systems are followed to avoid any lag in project execution.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND CHARACTERISTICS:


  • Bachelor’s of Engineering / Master of Engineering / Diploma.
  • 3 to 5 years in steel fabrication.
  • Exposure in steel fabrication.
  • Special skills required: negotiation, presentation, and execution.
  • Maintain and enhance the reputation of the organization.
  • Self-principled and maintain professional work ethics.
  • Persuasive and enthusiastic about problem solving.
  • Proactive player to lead and resolve the technical issues.
  • Genuine to inform management / client about the possible consequences when his professional advice is over-ruled.
  • Demanding character with onerous in dealing vexed sensitive situations.
  • Work together with teammates.
  • Maintain transparency and impartial in judgment.
  • Self-confident, poise and maintain high morale.
