Regional Underwriting Manager - Financial Lines

Main duties of this role is to input to and implement strategy agreed by underwriting management and to identify and execute Chubb goals in delivering long term sustainable growth for the region. We ask you to produce a profit for the portfolio across the product line in accordance with the business plan. You will also ensure underwriting integrity through appropriate deployment of underwriting guidelines and controls, consistency of approach towards risk selection, pricing, and use of capacity whilst recognising market conditions. 

Your Responsibilities for this role may include, but are not limited to:

• Business Goals:  To underwrite new business or renewals according to defined underwriting guidelines, specified budget and local growth plan.
• Financial Goals: To define and implement underwriting strategy and quoting process for the regions by undertaking business and financial planning in order to achieve financial goals and requirements as set out in the business plan.
• Portfolio Integrity: To manage the portfolio build and maintain underwriting integrity by ensuring effective communication throughout the region to ensure responsiveness to changing business environment. To ensure quality control by undertaking quantitative underwriting reviews, running regular management meetings and peer reviews.
• Product Development: To prioritise and lead product development effort to improve client retention and new business. This will involve collaborating with peers within and across business lines in Europe as well as globally.
• Producer Management: To represent and promote Chubb corporately to brokers, internal and external clients domestically and overseas. This may involve servicing key producers and clients, monitoring business acquisition and retention as well as maximising cross-selling opportunities. 
• Procedures: To review, develop and implement procedures to maximise operational effectiveness and update underwriting guidelines. To oversee peer review process to ensure risks are written within guidelines or are forwarded for exception reports. To enforce regulatory and internal requirements as to workflow, control and monitoring.
• Operational Management: To develop and implement business plans for direct reports and their teams. To define underwriting authority levels. To allocate resources to meet business objectives. To ensure the PMP process is adhered. To define roles for employees, manage and review performance of direct reports and to provide appropriate training/ mentoring support. To manage a team of appropriately skilled and experienced underwriters and their support staff operating in regional area.
