The Regional Protection Assistant undertakes to monitor the protection standards, operational procedures, and practices in protection delivery at the reception canters.

 

Main Duties and responsibilities

 

Technical support

  • Stay abreast of political, social, economic and cultural developments that have an impact on the protection environment.
  • Support the Regional Protection Coordinator in ensuring that protection strategies are implemented by the MOSA  eld staff in close coordination with the central level Protection Coordinator 
  • Ensure participatory, community-based protection and AGD approaches are included in MOSA strategies, activities and interventions. 
  • Promote the understanding of protection issues, guidelines and principles, especially those linked issues or cases linked to CP, GBV and PWSN cases within the MOSA team.


Liaison and coordination 

  • Coordinate all MOSA LCRP related protection activities at the regional level.
  • Provide technical guidance and support in protection to MoSA staff in the field.
  • Participate in protection coordination meetings, alongside the Regional Coordinator
  • Maintain positive relations with community members and key stakeholders, local implementing actors, local authorities, and other international and local stakeholders.
  • Facilitate a consultative process with the partners and persons of concern to develop and implement a comprehensive protection strategy addressing the specific protection needs and priorities of women and men, children, youth and older persons, persons with disabilities, minority groups such as persons with diverse Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) survivors.


Protection implementation 

  • Implement and oversee Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all MOSA protection/solutions activities.
  • Participate in outreach activities with the aim to share information and raise awareness on key topics such as services, women rights, child rights, civil documentation and legal residency, COVID-19 prevention and vaccination, etc. 
  • Ensure that persons at heightened risk identified during outreach activities are safely identified and referred along the existing referral pathways 
  • Support senior management to ensure the LCRP protection strategy is fully integrated into the MoSA Operations Plan. 
  • Undertake regular visits/missions to eld locations to build a comprehensive understanding of the ground situation and the actions needed
  • Support the add-on staff at Reception Centers to handle the increased numbers of newborns, through oversight of the add-on procedures, in coordination with the Regional Coordinator who will, in turn, liaise with the General Supervisor and the Protection Officer
  • Actively support and lead on MoSA’ Birth registration process at the regional level
  • Participate and provide MOSA insights within the coordination meetings, such as GBV coordination meetings or working groups at  eld level and actively contribute to its deliverables such as updating referral pathways, developing prevention activities and GBV mainstreaming.
  • Monitoring, evaluation and reporting 
  • Support in implementing and monitoring MOSA activities at  eld level, in close coordination with the Regional Coordinator
  • Assess and analyze the protection needs and situation of affected persons identified during the implementation of MOSA activities within LCRP framework, according to protection and humanitarian standards
  • Support and facilitate collection of monitoring and evaluation data linked to MOSA activities, including baseline and end line questionnaires 
  • Participate in outreach activities, to identify vulnerable cases and provide the needed support
  • Support and facilitate collection of monitoring and evaluation data, including baseline and end line questionnaires
  • Submit a monthly report to the General Supervisor.
  • Perform any other relevant task under the LCRP, as assigned by the Regional Coordinator
