The Pump Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of various types of pumps used in industrial, commercial, and residential settings. This role requires expertise in pump systems, including centrifugal pumps, submersible pumps, diaphragm pumps, and others. The Pump Technician ensures optimal performance and reliability of pump systems to meet operational requirements and customer needs.


  • Installation: Install new pump systems according to specifications, manufacturer guidelines, and applicable codes and regulations. This may involve assembling components, connecting piping, wiring electrical controls, and testing system functionality.
  • Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance inspections of pump systems to identify and address potential issues proactively. Perform tasks such as lubrication, alignment adjustments, belt replacements, and cleaning to ensure optimal performance and longevity of equipment.
  • Repair: Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with pumps and related components, including motors, seals, valves, and piping. Utilize diagnostic tools, such as pressure gauges and vibration analyzers, to identify root causes of malfunctions and implement effective repair solutions.
  • Testing and Calibration: Conduct performance testing and calibration of pump systems to ensure they meet specified flow rates, pressure levels, and efficiency standards. Make adjustments as needed to optimize performance and energy efficiency.
  • Emergency Response: Respond promptly to service calls and emergency situations involving pump failures or malfunctions. Assess the situation, prioritize tasks, and take appropriate action to minimize downtime and mitigate potential damage.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, parts inventory, and service history for each pump system. Complete service reports and documentation in compliance with company procedures and customer requirements.
  • Customer Interaction: Communicate effectively with customers to understand their needs, address concerns, and provide recommendations for pump system maintenance, repairs, or upgrades. Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through professionalism, responsiveness, and quality workmanship.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and procedures at all times to prevent accidents, injuries, and environmental hazards. Follow relevant safety regulations, including lockout/tagout procedures, confined space entry protocols, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
