What is Emiratisation?

Emiratisation is a UAE nationalization initiative which requires companies in the UAE to hire 2% of their workforce locally every year. By 2026, the rate is expected to reach 10%, creating 12,000 new jobs for citizens every year.

Why do UAE employers need to worry about Emiratisation?

In early 2023, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) fined AED 400 million to the companies that failed to meet the Emiratisation criteria. MoHRE has doubled down on the targets, calling for hiring 4% Emiratis in 2023, of which 3% needs to be achieved by June 2023

Thus, you can’t really put off meeting your quotas till the end of the year. Failure to achieve this year’s target means AED 84,000 fine per Emirati not hired at your company! As a result, an increasing number of private and government sector companies are looking to hire highly skilled Emiratis and meet their bi-annual Emiratisation targets.

If your company has 50+ employees and isn’t located in a free zone (like DIFC and ADGM), you need a hiring solution like Bayt.com that does the heavy lifting for you.
