Adheres to and optimizes execution of all phases of the application software development lifecycle; coaches engineers to drive application-focused improvements. Utilizes depth and breadth of expert knowledge to develop and guide new application features and enhancements, leading design specifications, ensuring accessibility, and maintaining documentation for application design and code. Leads process, architecture, and/or code reviews across a project and/or complete application/product/service to drive improvements. Conducts debugging and troubleshooting to identify and fix highly complex application issues. Develops fixes for identified issues. Troubleshoots and resolves highly complex issues related to application programming interface (API) functionality, integration, and service-to-service interactions. Designs and develops application software, systems, and services, reporting results to manager and/or senior technical leaders upon completion. Defines project or design scope for application components and services. Collaborates with stakeholders across business lines and drives efforts to understand customer use cases, root causes, and mitigations to align and explain rationale behind application solutions. Can provide advanced technical guidance and support to customers regarding application-related issues to mitigate recurrence. Collaborates with the team and cross-functionally to follow and suggest improvements to application development practices, secure coding standards, and code quality, providing coaching to less experienced team members. Utilizes innovation to perform periodic maintenance and testing operations for application systems that require upgrading or patching (e.g., for critical vulnerabilities).

Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities
Application Software Development:


  • Owns complex, cross-module features and refactors improving performance, security, and operability.


  • Leads critical incident response and post-incident reviews; drives preventative engineering.


  • Resolves complex issues across Oracle app services, infrastructure, and key integrations/acquisitions.


  • Aligns QA/eng teams on test strategies, environments, and release gates to ensure cross-application quality.


  • Evolves application architecture within defined boundaries; introduces patterns that reduce tech debt.


  • Defines technical plans that balance scalability, maintainability, and time-to-market; sets coding conventions for area.


  • Establishes and governs API contracts and dependency best practices across related teams.


  • Helps define quarterly build priorities balancing customer commitments, reliability work, and innovation.


  • Triangulates feedback from multiple sources (SRE reports, forums, customer inputs) to shape roadmaps.


  • Coaches peers; leads cross-functional design reviews with Designers/PMs/Stakeholders.


Software Development and Coding - Design, Testing, and Optimization:


  • Designs innovative software solutions and identifies requirements to achieve business and operational goals.


  • Adheres to and optimizes execution of all phases of the software development lifecycle; coaches engineers to drive improvements.


  • Utilizes depth and breadth of expert knowledge to develop and guide new software features and enhancements leading design specifications, ensuring accessibility, and documentation for software design and code.

Software Architecture - Software System Structural Design:


  • Designs and develops software, systems, and services, reporting results to manager and/or senior technical leaders upon completion. Defines project or design scope.


  • Provides technical guidance and domain expertise to suggest software architecture decisions that impact organizational success, mentoring peers and contributing to team development through role modeling and decision-making.


  • Conducts periodic reviews and ensures adherence to architectural standards.


  • Collaborates across lines of business and may communicate externally to align and build a narrow scope of software architecture with business and/or customer goals and priorities.


  • Implements highly complex performance optimization and scalability strategies in software design within scope.
