Role Overview


The Head of Software Development will lead the GCC’s engineering organization with end-to-end ownership of application development, DevSecOps transformation, and digital delivery excellence.


This role will be responsible for building and scaling high-performing engineering teams, driving secure-by-design software development practices, and ensuring continuous delivery through modern DevSecOps pipelines. The leader will collaborate globally to deliver high-quality, secure, and scalable products aligned with enterprise strategy.


Key Skills & Competencies


  • Strong expertise in software engineering and large-scale delivery leadership
  • Deep experience in DevSecOps practices, tools, and frameworks
  • Hands-on exposure to CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, etc.)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Strong understanding of security integration in SDLC
  • Proven experience in Agile/SAFe environments
  • Strong stakeholder management and global delivery experience
  • Expertise in modern architecture patterns (microservices, APIs, event-driven systems)
  • Data-driven mindset with strong analytics and reporting skills

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, MBA (preferred)
  • Experience: 15+ years (with 8+ years in leadership roles)
  • Certifications (preferred):
    • DevOps / Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP)
    • SAFe / Agile certifications

Key Responsibilities


1. Software Development Leadership


  • Lead and scale end-to-end software engineering capabilities within the GCC.
  • Drive development of modern, scalable, cloud-native applications.
  • Standardize engineering practices, coding guidelines, and quality benchmarks.
  • Ensure alignment of development roadmaps with enterprise priorities.

2. DevSecOps Transformation & Delivery


  • Define and execute DevSecOps strategy and roadmap for GCC.
  • Embed security-by-design and shift-left security practices across SDLC.
  • Establish and optimize CI/CD pipelines for faster, reliable, and secure releases.
  • Drive automation across build, test, security, and deployment processes.
  • Integrate tools for code quality, vulnerability scanning, compliance, and monitoring.

3. Engineering Excellence & Quality


  • Establish high engineering standards (code quality, testing, documentation).
  • Drive adoption of Agile, Scrum, SAFe, or other modern delivery frameworks.
  • Ensure test automation, performance engineering, and reliability engineering practices.
  • Implement metrics such as DORA (Deployment frequency, MTTR, change failure rate, lead time).

4. Architecture & Technology Governance


  • Collaborate with architecture teams to ensure secure, scalable, and resilient designs.
  • Drive adoption of microservices, APIs, containerization, and cloud platforms.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise architecture, security, and regulatory standards.
  • Evaluate and onboard new tools, frameworks, and platforms.

5. Security & Compliance


  • Ensure compliance with enterprise security frameworks and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement application security (AppSec), SAST/DAST, container security, and API security.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to mitigate risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Drive security audits, threat modeling, and incident response readiness.

6. Stakeholder & Global Collaboration


  • Partner with global business and IT stakeholders for solution delivery and prioritization.
  • Act as the single point of accountability for software delivery from GCC.
  • Provide executive-level updates on delivery, risks, and innovation initiatives.

7. Talent Strategy & Capability Building


  • Build and lead high-performing engineering teams across multiple technology stacks.
  • Drive hiring strategy, workforce planning, and vendor ecosystem management.
  • Establish learning programs for emerging technologies and DevSecOps practices.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, ownership, and continuous learning.

8. Delivery Governance & Metrics


  • Establish governance for delivery predictability, quality, and productivity.
  • Define and track KPIs and engineering metrics dashboards.
  • Drive continuous improvement through data-driven insights and retrospectives.
  • Ensure alignment with business outcomes and customer experience goals.

9. Innovation & Transformation


  • Lead adoption of AI-assisted development, automation, and platform engineering.
  • Drive digital transformation initiatives within GCC.
  • Identify opportunities to improve developer productivity and experience (DevEx).
