Software Senior Principal Engineer

As part of this role, you will get an opportunity to work on various layers of the storage stack, including all aspects of operating systems and file systems, distributed systems, high performance protocol stacks, and next-generation virtualization technology. 

What you’ll achieve 

As a Software Senior Principal Engineer, you will collaborate to develop maintenance releases and customer patches for ObjectScale. You will work with Product Development, Product Owners and Escalations teams to triage critical defect fixes found in the field or in system testing in mainline releases for backporting to the previous versions that are in market. Provide fixes defects found during the testing of 
maintenance releases and customer patches. You will also have the opportunity to drive continual process improvements for the evolution of maintenance release lifecycle.

You will: 

• Design and build next-generation AI data platform storage - mission-critical components powering our AI strategy—giving you the opportunity to tackle stateof-the-art problems in scale, performance, and reliability. 
• Deliver maintenance releases and customer patches: Develop and validate fixes for ObjectScale, ensuring stability and reliability across supported versions.
• Own backporting strategy: Identify and backport critical fixes from mainline development to previously released versions in the market, maintaining consistency and customer trust.
• Ensure release quality: Diagnose and resolve defects discovered during maintenance 
release and patch validation cycles

Essential Requirements 

•12 -17 years of experience in systems programming and distributed systems fundamentals (concurrency, networking, storage, consistency, fault tolerance). 
• Proficiency in at least one of C/C++ OR Java and Python (good to have); willingness to learn across the stack.
• Experience with Linux or BSD development and debugging (e.g., performance, strace/dtrace/eBPF, tcpdump) and ability to write clean, testable code; familiarity with unit/integration/system testing and CI/CD. 
• Hands-on experience leveraging AI in software development lifecycles, including using AI-assisted coding tools, automated debugging, test generation, and code analysis to accelerate development of maintenance releases and customer patches.
• Experience applying AI/ML techniques to maintenance engineering, such as: Intelligent triaging and prioritization of defects using historical patterns and telemetry. Automated root cause analysis and log/trace anomaly detection. Predictive identification of high-risk areas for regression during patch development
