Job Description

JOB TITLE: Project Director


DEPARTMENT: Software Development


REPORTS TO: AVP/VP/SVP


PURPOSE:


A Project Director provides the consistency needed to see software projects through from start to finish. With a blend of technical knowledge and leadership skills, they oversee both the product being developed and the individuals involved in the work. Acting as a reliable source of information, software project managers facilitate communication among all stakeholders. Project Directors often act as intermediaries, bridging the gap between client requirements and technical teams' needs. Additionally, Project Directors responsible for providing regular status reports to keep all interested parties informed and involved in the project.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Engage with the customer and develop an understanding of their business and needs. Utilize this information to assist the project manager (PM) in devising a technical solution for the business problem.
  • Collaborate with senior management and sales teams to identify growth opportunities and strategically position the company (SSI). Provide support to the engagement manager by contributing to account plans.
  • Take responsibility for developing an efficient and effective delivery structure, as well as a scalable delivery process. Regularly audit the development, QA, and delivery processes to ensure their effectiveness.
  • Work closely with PMs to establish project teams, conduct resource planning, and create project plans for various initiatives.
  • Support the business development and client engagement teams by participating in introductory customer calls, discussing high-level technical solutions, contributing to proposal development, and engaging in related activities.
  • Mentor project managers to facilitate their development as future project directors.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:


  • At least bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Experience in organizational-level activities such as team building, talent management, identifying training needs, career development, change management, coaching, and grooming senior team members for advancement to higher roles.
  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to translate business needs into software requirements, assemble the appropriate team for each project/client, collaborate with the PM to create project plans/roadmaps, and effectively communicate and manage expectations with customers.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and excellent communication skills.
  • Leadership skills and proficient in multitasking.
  • Over 15 years of software experience with more than 6 years of project management experience.
