Job Description

  • Overview: As a Crane Operator & Lifting/Rigging Supervisor, you will be responsible for operating cranes and overseeing lifting and rigging activities at construction sites, industrial facilities, or marine operations. Your role involves operating various types of cranes safely and efficiently, while also supervising the lifting and rigging team to ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and project requirements.
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Crane Operation:
  • Operate a variety of cranes, including mobile cranes, tower cranes, overhead cranes, and specialized lifting equipment, to lift, move, and position heavy materials, equipment, and structures.
  • Conduct pre-operational inspections of cranes, checking for proper functioning of controls, brakes, hoists, and safety devices, and report any defects or malfunctions to maintenance personnel.
  • Safely maneuver loads using hand signals, radio communication, or crane controls, ensuring precise placement and alignment according to lift plans and project specifications.
  • Lifting and Rigging Supervision:
  • Supervise lifting and rigging activities, including load rigging, sling inspection, load calculation, and rigging plan development, to ensure safe and efficient lifting operations.
  • Provide guidance and instruction to lifting and rigging team members on proper rigging techniques, equipment selection, and load handling procedures, emphasizing safety and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Enforce safety policies, procedures, and practices to mitigate hazards, prevent accidents, and promote a safe working environment for crane operators, riggers, and other personnel involved in lifting operations.
  • Conduct safety assessments, risk assessments, and job hazard analyses (JHAs) to identify and address potential safety risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety violations, and implement corrective actions and preventive measures to prevent recurrence and improve safety performance.



  • Quality Assurance and Control:
  • Ensure compliance with lifting and rigging standards, specifications, and procedures, including proper use of slings, shackles, hooks, and other rigging hardware, to prevent equipment damage and ensure load stability.
  • Perform visual inspections, load tests, and equipment certifications to verify the integrity and reliability of lifting and rigging equipment, and maintain inspection records and documentation as required.
  • Monitor lifting operations, review lift plans, and provide technical guidance to ensure adherence to project requirements and industry best practices.
  • Communication and Coordination:
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, crane operators, riggers, and other stakeholders to coordinate lifting activities, resolve issues, and ensure alignment with project schedules and objectives.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors, crane rental companies, and equipment suppliers to procure lifting equipment, rigging supplies, and support services as needed for project execution.
  • Prepare lifting plans, method statements, and risk assessments, and coordinate with regulatory authorities and third-party inspectors to obtain permits and approvals for lifting operations.
