Before sending them to team building training, give them some time to bond (first stage of teambuilding).  This will help your team know other team members.  You may have to establish more fellowship, gatherings, meetings, family affairs etc.  There will be some arguments and misunderstandings as you go along the way.  This is normal (flexing).  Then send them straight to the teambuilding workshop to understand more on how to build up the team.  The workshop will aid them to straighten up any issues (Norming).  Once the team has accepted their weaknesses and identified their strength, you will have a stronger team after the workshop (Performing).

Teambuilding training is best if your each team members personally know each other.  During the workshop, it would be difficult to identify strengths and weaknesses of a certain person if he/she is new to the team.  Establish connection first before you go any further.

The program title is TEAM BUILDING.

- You should send the team for this type of training if they are no longer performing well as a team and not achieving their department objectives and targets.

- Otherwise, there's no need if they are actually performing according to their department target.

Are you planning for new objective and target, then that may require new training need but of course training need analysis must be done first because if there's no gap then again, no need to train them since you are actually having good results already.

It will be more easy to decide when to send employee or employees to any training program if your investment will be returned to you then plan for training.

Hope this help!
