in generally brake oil is not even considered as an oil as much as hydraulic fluids. engine oil and hydraulic fluids are produced from the same base oil. the difference comes with ingredients added to each of them to maintain high pressure transmission function for the hydraulic, and lubrication heat control and the other facilities of the engine oil including impurities collection from the system.
