Providing routine refreshments to the employees is considered a basic right in most of the environments. What you think during a cost cutting era, if we reduce or eliminate the budget of providing routine refreshments to the employees, what could be the impacts we could face in our working atmosphere? When replying please consider if we suggest them some alternate options for having this refreshments like cutting the expenses from the salaries etc.
From my point of view, yes it will effect definately, because it strikes directly to the moral of employees.
Employee 'buy-in' to this concept is extremely important in terms of morale and in maintaining the required levels of performance. If there is cost-cutting, the employees need to know and understand the importance/objectives of such. Employees may also have ideas on how to best implement the cost cutting. I would say therefore, that consultation before implementation should be high on the agenda
That is like cutting the break room out and not allowing employees to sit and eat their lunch. I don't think its a great idea to cut off refreshments for the sake of budget. If an organization wants to cut costs and maintain budget it'll be best to look at other factors and not the ones that will toy with employee and the production. If somehow refreshments were really an issue then I would draw limits or rules as to how much coffee (per hour) you can have.
This will affect badly to staff more than if they don't receive any at the begining. Any reduction of the employee's allowances will seriously lead to compensation action affecting the work station and loyality to job responsibilities.
It will affect the morale of the employees. cost cutting on such things will never bring desired result for the Management. Infact it is better to work on increasing the revenue so as to take care of such expenses.
Definitely it will effect the performance and hopes on that employer even if the employee is not taking any thing from the companys account.the word refreshments its self means refreshing.from an employee point of view when things like refreshment get cuts his view against the employer is falling down.that means the company is not even caring or considering the employee rather than working like a machine.
Alternate solution is for eg: if you are installing some vending machines on the company premises the employer could make it50 -50 or some discounted price for the employees.
It is an Organizational Behavior question. Various studies have been conducted to see the impact of different variables like flexible hours, telecommute, autonomy, and many others on job satisfaction. The impact of overall job satisfaction on job performance has also been studied.
You can either assume few answers or look into some of the research that has been done in this regard and see what is the best course of action.
Firstly my point is it should not but in reality it really affect it because it give employees a satisfaction that they are cared and management think about them along with profits. It is in-direct method used by many organization to increase the level of motivation among employees
