Job fairs are a great way for you to explore potential employment opportunities and learn more about companies who are actively hiring in your neighborhood. Many people see it as something as serious as a first interview, while others view it as an opportunity to gather information about potential employers. Regardless of what reason you have for attending, there are a few important things to keep in mind before, during, and after the job fair to make it successful for you.

I think job fairs are good and right step in the right direction. Job fairs provide opportunities both to employers and job hunters. Real job fairs are good than vertuals because through this way recruiters can easily find right candidates, and job hunters can also take advantage of face to face interaction with employers/recruiters.

I agree in principle with everything that has been said, but the cynic in me thinks that sometimes Job Fairs are more of a catalyst for employers to network and to be "seen" than they are as genuine opportunities for would be employees. Yes that could be an "offshoot" but I feel it is more of a self publicising vehicle than a service for those looking for a job! In fairness if I see a company at a Job Fair advertising for "apprenticeships" then I am sure that they are definitely "interested" in recruitment as apprentices are an investment for the future.

I have been to a job fair this year for the first time. I didn't apply for any job there but the only positive thing from this event, was that I learned a few things about Middle East and in this fair I learned about Bayt. So, I count it as an advantage!

Fairs are your chance to impress the “gatekeeper” to an organization and to allow him or her to put a name to a face/ résumé. Your goal should be to identify the next step in the process and to entice the recruiter to grant you an interview or at least a referral to someone who needs a candidate like you.
