JOB TITLE : Chemist
LOCATION : Hamriyah, UAE
REPORTS TO : Laboratory Manager / Deputy
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conducting the analyses as per the stipulated methods in conjunction with our Laboratory capabilities. Should be responsible for taking due care of the equipment / instrument used and inform the Lab Manager/Deputy should any damage or breakage occur.
GENERAL WORK DESCRIPTION
Sample handling and analysis as per the local work instruction and relevant designated test methods. Entering results into GLIMS. Updating results to the client, vessel’s representative or to the inspector / coordinator by the agreed method of communication as advised by the Shift Leader / Lab manager or deputy. Calibration, maintenance and cleaning of laboratory and inspection equipment as per the relevant methods and schedule. Stock control and re-order of laboratory common consumables as assigned by the Shift Leader / Lab Manager or deputy. Assist in training the new recruits as part of their induction program. Attend sampling of the vessel or shore tanks and witnessing analysis in third party locations as and when required or as instructed by the Shift Leader or Lab Manager. Ensure timely completion and reporting of test results as per the requirements of the contract, nominations and instructions. Actively participate and follow company’s HSE, Compliance, Quality Assurance and other business control requirements which are mandatory or voluntary.
Attend witnessing analysis as and when required or as instructed by Lab Supervisor or Lab Manager. To carry out the above and other responsibilities assigned in a safe and ethical manner, and in a fashion which demonstrates compliance to company’s quality policy, Business ethics policy, vision and strategy and to exercise good judgement, common sense and in diplomacy in doing so.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Ability to test crude oils, petroleum products, chemicals, lubricants, transformer oils as per international standards i.e. ASTM, IP, UOP and ISO. Calibration of equipments and Preparation of standards. Capable of reviewing raw analytical data & issuing final lab reports.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
B.Sc. Chemistry. Minimum 5 years’ experience in Analytical Laboratory.* Ability to work independently.
