Abides by the Medical Staff Bylaws, Code of Medical Ethics, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff, and those specific to the department.
Provides the highest attainable standard of medical care for the patients for whom he/she is responsible.
Carries out full range of inpatient and outpatient clinical duties as assigned by Medical Director in accordance with individually approved clinical privileges.
Teaches staff assigned for training purposes, and participates with the director of department/head of division and the Consultant in planning a programme of career development for trainees.
Participates in the on-call duties as required by the department/division.
To initiate and organize prospective trials and studies on currently important topics, with a view to publication.
Participates in the improvement of quality of patient care (Total Quality Medicine Programme, Quality Assessment Improvement Programme) as applicable.
Instructs and guides, when necessary, junior medical staff in the overall care of patients, supervises their performance/work, and contributes to the training and teaching activities in the department.
Reports and discuss all unusual findings, complication or alterations in the management plan, with the Consultant.
Fulfills the requirement of the Saudi Council for Health Specialties about continuing medical education.
Takes part in teaching program lectures, seminars, tutorials etc.
Assists in the training, teaching, supervision and assessment of trainee technicians, specialists and others as required.
Participates in and/or actively supports approved research projects.
Deputizes for the Consultant as required and shares the workload in his specialty during the absence of his colleagues.
Strives to improve his clinical expertise as well as the standard of practice concerning morbidity and cost-effectiveness.
Participates in the Major Disaster Plan of the hospital, as indicated.
Participate in Community activities as related to health education and patient education practice.
Participates in CQIPS System Improvement activities, System Control activities, Staff Development activities, Environmental Awareness, Fire and Safety Practices, CPR, Disaster, and Infection Control.
Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills, and abilities, within the hospital and/or affiliated medical facilities.
