Construction Superintendent Civil and Structural:
Job Specification:
Ensure civil, earthwork and structurefabrication/construction activities are undertaken in accordance with projectneeds in general and compatible with project safety, quality, schedule and costobjectives in particular.
Interfaces among various project teams and departments onissues relating to the position. Thisrequires effective communication, initiative, flexibility and an ability toinduce collaboration.
Exhibits team leadership skills, integrity, interpersonalunderstanding, and self-confidence.
Reports to Area Construction Division Manager
Regular contact with EPC Contractor/subcontractors andproject stakeholders at site (RLIC, Kahramaa, 3rd party asset owners andothers).
Works effectively within established policies andprocedures, and participates in the further development of these to meetchanging needs.
Works on large capital expenditure projects in a highlydynamic team environment that has tight-deadlines, high pressure andvisibility, requiring accuracy, initiative and the ability to multi-task asessential skills.
Demonstrates willingness to tackle a variety of tasks inresponse to evolving business needs.
Will be based in PMT office in RasLaffan
Key Accountabilities
Reviewconstruction sequence, work plans, pre-task planning and method statements toensure comprehensive safety and feasibility.
ProvideCompany representation in monitoring and coordinating site activities of theEPC Contractor and its subcontractor(s). Reports on the constructionactivities, progress, areas of concern and mitigating actions. Participates inappropriate weekly construction discipline review meetings.
Monitor andassist the EPC Contractor and subcontractor(s) in the implementation ofsite-specific SHE programs to meet safety improvement strategy &objectives, emergency response and evacuation drill programs. Participate inincident/accident investigation under the SHE Coordinator in the area.
Ensureconstruction work is carried out in accordance with Qatargas rules,regulations, and standards and permit to work procedures as applicable.
Review workand inspection results to ensure compliance with EPC Contract requirements.Interface and coordinate with Field Engineering and QA/QC sections.
Report andrecord potential change order requests to assist in claims avoidance.
Attend PMCand CLT Completions meetings to provide assistance in Mechanical Completion,punch list clearing, Commissioning, and Start-up activities as requiredfacilitating construction deliverables for these activities.
MaintainConstruction focus and overview of civil, earthwork and structure fabricationsupporting priority completions schedules.
Work withConstruction superintendents and engineers to develop and maintain overallconstruction and completion metrics to track PMC/Completions constructiondeliverables.
Assist PMTin meeting QGMS expectations as required.
MinimumRequirements:
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
Good written and verbal English language communicationskills.
Good technical team skills.
Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience primarily in civil orstructural construction of industrial facilities. International experience, especially Qatar orthe Middle East, is preferred.
Utilizes a systematic approach to problem solving thatensures accuracy, timeliness and quality of documentation in resolution.
Able to work moderately complex tasks to completion withintime constrains of Project, with minimal guidance from more experienced staff.
Participates in the resolution of problems in more demandingand less familiar situations using precedent and own acquired knowledge.
Able to work within a defined role with limited supervision.
Able to make decisions and solve problems related to aspecific discipline/field.
Responsible for own work product with minimal guidance andoversight from immediate supervisor.
Establishes credibility with peers and supervisors and makesgood use of their time.
