Job Description

Job Summary

The Senior Irrigation Engineer plan, design and manage the construction of irrigation projects to distribute water to agricultural lands and ensures compliance to organization standards. Leads in planning and reviewing the project timelines and monitors the completion of projects including utilization of resources.

Job Responsibilities 1

  • Plans, and oversees construction of irrigation projects including planning and designing irrigation fixtures and installation of fixtures to requirements and specifications.
  • Monitor the implementation of corrective and preventive maintenance schedule and completion for landscape irrigation systems
  • Evaluate, review and revise project documents related to water and environment, and analyze design specifications included in project proposals for accuracy, soundness, feasibility and cost.
  • Monitor the projects progress as per the submitted program by the contractor to take appropriate action to catch the delay
  • Manages and ensure timely resolution of corrective maintenance requests/complaints
  • Prepares the updates and prepare/generate reports on maintenance work in coordination with MEP section
  • Maintains the stock of repair parts to ensure appropriate maintenance of irrigation system
  • Supervise and participate in the installation of any lines and ensure that the outsourced technicians/maintenance staff are adequately utilizing the irrigation systems

Job Responsibilities 2

  • Supervises and ensure carrying out of performance surveys to identify strengths and weaknesses of the existing irrigation scheme, including electricity cost and supply.
  • Directs, through subordinate supervisors, construction of such irrigation systems as dams, canals, and ditches, according to type of soil, climatic characteristics, water supply, return flow, and other factors affecting irrigation requirements.
  • Assists in managing budgets, cash flow and obligations to ensure that deliverables are met and payments to contractors and personnel are received on time
  • Manages and review both Health and Safety and Environmental practices during the delivery of the project to those requirements defined within ISO14001 and OHSAS 18001
  • Maintains active communication and builds teamwork amongst the team, affiliated companies, and other departments, in order to achieve commitment to the overall company objective.


Skills

Job Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge in Qatar Construction Standards in Irrigation and other relevant specification.

• Preparation and attending inspections with project consultants for the materials to be used and executed works.

• Field supervision in irrigation maintenance systems with hands-on experience in scheduling and managing technicians

• Irrigation network design experience

• Knowledge of water requirement for lawns, trees, shrubs, ground cover plants seasonal plants, etc.

• Knowledge of AutoCAD software and other computer applications Skills

• Excellent spoken and written English, Arabic language is a plus

• Good reporting skills

• Fosters a stimulating, accepting learning environment

• Analyzes complex technical data such as using logic and quantitative reasoning

• Sets priorities which accurately reflect the relative importance of Irrigation job responsibilities

• Demonstrate efficient management natural resources and minimizing the negative impact on the environmen

• ERP knowledge preferably SAP functional skills are a requirement to be successful in this role.

Job Experience

Minimum 10 years of experience (required)
