Job Description

Maramer Contracting Company is currently seeking a Legal Advisor with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the construction industry. The Legal Advisor will be responsible for providing legal advice and guidance specific to construction-related matters, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and representing the company's interests in legal proceedings.

Responsibilities:

1. Legal Advice and Consultation:

Provide legal guidance and counsel to internal stakeholders on construction-related legal matters.
Analyze and assess legal risks associated with construction projects and operations.
Offer strategic advice on contract negotiations, project disputes, and regulatory compliance.

2. Contract Review and Drafting:

Review, draft, and negotiate construction contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
Ensure that construction contracts are legally sound, accurately reflect the parties' intentions, and protect the company's interests.

3. Regulatory Compliance:

Stay informed about relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards affecting the construction sector.
Advise on regulatory compliance requirements related to construction activities, permits, licenses, and environmental regulations.

4. Dispute Resolution and Litigation Management:

Represent the company in construction-related disputes, including mediation, arbitration, and litigation.
Collaborate with external legal counsel as needed to resolve disputes efficiently and effectively.

5. Risk Management:

Identify and assess legal risks inherent in construction projects and operations.
Develop strategies and protocols to mitigate legal risks and minimize potential liabilities.

6. Legal Documentation and Record-Keeping:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date legal documentation, including contracts, correspondence, and litigation files.
Ensure compliance with document retention policies and procedures.

7. Training and Education:

Provide legal training and education to project teams and other relevant stakeholders on construction law topics.
Develop training materials and resources to enhance legal awareness and compliance.

Skills

Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized institution. Advanced degrees such as a Master of Laws (LLM) may be preferred.
Admission to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a legal advisor, preferably with a focus on the construction industry.
In-depth knowledge of construction law, contract law, and relevant regulatory frameworks.
Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Proven track record of effectively managing legal matters and achieving favorable outcomes.
Ethical conduct and commitment to upholding professional standards of integrity and confidentiality.
