Job Description
Job Purpose:
The OSP Site Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of outdoor fiber optic infrastructure projects. He will collaborate with project teams to ensure efficient deployment, adherence to engineering standards, and timely completion of site activities, while ensuring optimal network performance and meeting customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting site surveys to assess the feasibility of OSP projects and gather relevant data.
- Collaborating with design teams to develop technical solutions and specifications for the installation of telecommunication infrastructure.
- Creating detailed engineering plans, including route designs, duct layouts, and cable specifications.
- Managing and supervising contractors during the construction, installation, and commissioning of OSP networks.
- Ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and local codes during the OSP project implementation.
- Troubleshooting and resolving issues related to OSP infrastructure, including fiber optic cables, conduits, manholes, and poles.
- Coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders to address any challenges or changes in project requirements.
- Conducting quality checks and tests to verify the performance and reliability of OSP networks.
- Providing technical support and guidance to field technicians and contractors.
- Keeping accurate records, documenting project progress, and preparing reports for management.
- Staying up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in OSP network design and installation.
Important Requirements & Knowledge:
Installation, Commissioning, integration, Testing, acceptance, and operations of ICT services.
Education & Experience:
- Diploma / Degree.
- At least 5 years’ experience as Engineer/Supervisor.
Skills
Job Specific Skills & Competencies:
- Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Previous experience as an OSP Site Engineer or in a similar role within the telecommunications industry is preferred.
- Proficiency in OSP network design and implementation, including fiber optics, copper cables, conduits, and related infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols related to OSP networks.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
- Proficiency in using design software/tools for OSP network planning and documentation.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate with cross-functional teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Attention to detail, organization, and documentation skills.
