Job Description

Senior Engineer, Condition Monitoring - South Africa, will provide a specialized engineering service relating to Predictive Maintenance like vibration and thermographic, including other industrial state of the art condition monitoring methodologies for rotary & static equipment in the facilities for power generation plants. They will be the single point contact and interface for various condition monitoring programs, schedules and forecast predictive maintenance on critical equipment existing within the NOMAC O&M plant.

Technical

  • Develop & coordinate CBM strategy with all sites in the cluster.
  • Develop Predictive Maintenance strategy, process and procedures including all required tools and techniques for the plant.
  • Manage vibration, oil and grease analysis, ultrasound, Ultrasonic testing, radiographic, boroscopy, and thermographic data, as well as other condition monitoring parameters, for rotating equipment (i.e. pumps, compressor, turbine, etc.), electrical installations as well as static equipment, and provide diagnosis using the appropriate diagnostic software tools.
  • Generate machinery condition report on routine basis and recommend proactive actions wherever required with time line.
  • Maintain measuring point data for all condition monitoring data and SAP notifications with corrective actions.
  • Oversee corrective/preventive maintenance activities as required and provide feedback to optimize PM plans.
  • Provide necessary alignment, balancing support during emergency and scheduled outages of the plant.
  • Assess the critical spare status of all rotating & static equipment on routine basis and estimate spares requirement.
  • Carryout equipment performance analysis and check for equipment deterioration and their causes and recommend the solutions.
  • Engage and lead in studies such as FMEA, RCA as required.
  • Provides field engineering oversight and direction for activities such as support, testing, installation, inspections, commissioning, etc.
  • Review the risk registers with site management teams and update were necessary on a regular basis.

Outage Management

  • Participate in the effective forecasting of manpower, budget and material requirements to ensure timely availability of resources and spares for effective execution of Mechanical outage maintenance plans.
  • Provide support and information during emergency and scheduled outages of the plant.
  • Track key areas prone to be inspected for outages and proactively manage the execution of testing, overhauls, inspections etc.
  • Support in the planning and execution of the shutdown maintenance of critical Mechanical and Electrical machinery, as per the recommendation of the OEM, and provide technical support to ensure the EHS, scope, cost, and timeline objectives are met.

Plant Performance and KPIs

  • Join the multi-disciplinary team to drive the continuous improvement of process control strategies to optimize the efficiency and output of power plant systems.
  • Ensure desired CBM metrics are established and achieved.

  • Adhere to all relevant organizational and departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions so that work is carried out to the required standard and in a consistent manner.

Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to the identification and implementation of change initiatives, programmes and projects in line with the organisation's standards, including leading the change management, process safety, ROS programs etc across the assets.
