I agree. It is said that "knowing what we don't know is half of what we know".

We can't fix what we don't acknowledge. Life is a learning journey.

I Disagree, we all know what we don't know but are not aware until the question arises.  I don't know many things but I know what they are and don't have the inclination to find the answers until they relate to me or a specific problem, then .... Google :-)

There´s4 types here (one made famous by a amazingly confusing speech by George W. Bush):

1. known knowns,2. known unknowns,3. unknown knowns and4. unknown unknowns.

1 is what you know and are aware of,2 is what you know that you don´t know. The3. is something you know, but are not aware of having the information available (prime example is information stored somewhere on your servers that noone even knows exists and therefore is not looking for). And finally, the unknown unknowns: you are not aware of something that you better should know but don´t. That could be a competitor in your field that you are not aware of, legal restrictions that apply to your field but are not aware of, and so on.

Agree...

There is saying (in military): "Know your enemies first, then you know how to defeat them..."

If "problem" is an "enemy", "learning" is a process to "know", and "defeat" mean we can solve the problem. Then, learning the problems is a assential key to solve them....

We will never solve something that we never understand... Just like we cannot defeat enemy who we never recognize

What you don't know and You Don't know that you don't know it this means that you don't need it...

Life is too short you have to spend it in learning the things you realy need...

Knowledge is a tool...

Initiative and humbleness to step back and embrace better ideas of others will let one know what one does not know.

To all the answers given I would add and suggest that "knowing your limitations" will serve you well.

I would not consider "do not know what we do not know" as a learning problem. we know what we do not know and do nothing about it to me is a learning problem.
