Job Description

  • The Treasury Specialist is responsible for managing day to day dealings with counterparty banks and executing placement/borrowing transactions. Also, the role includes reporting on daily liquidity, maturity profile of bank deposits/rollovers and preparation of monthly ALCO package.
  • Treasury Specialist will work closely with Risk and other finance team members on efficient Asset / Liability as well as liquidity management.
  • Prepare daily liquidity report for the management.
  • Prepare monthly ALCO pack in collaboration other team members and departments.
  • Extract data from Core banking system with understanding the GL/core Banking database structure to prepare maturity profiles of financial instruments and also perform analysis of asset / liability behaviours.
  • Calculate and present the trends of rates and cost of funds to be used for pricing and asset mix decision.
  • Maintain operating relationship with counterparty banks to execute money market transactions.
  • Deployment / placement of funds with CB UAE and other counterparty banks.
  • Maintain a daily maturity report of various instruments and timely highlight the short term maturities for decision to mature or renew.
  • Work closely with Operations team for timely and correct booking of money market deals and the resultant profit accruals etc.
  • Prepare / contribute and support in policies / processes for liquidity and assets/liability management and then maintain trackers to ensure compliance with the required limits.
  • Perform market research and peer comparison on rate movements and products available in the market that can be used by the Bank.

Skills

  • Finance / Business graduate.
  • 5 years’ experience working in treasury front or back office of a bank.
  • Experience in preparing review material for ALCO / Market Risk Committees presentations.
  • Strong understanding of financial instruments, balance sheet maturities and repricing gaps.
  • Understanding of liquidity and large exposure regulations in banking environment, preferably in UAE
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity.
  • Ability to execute and follow-through to completion and documentation.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and experience of liaising with auditors / examiners.
