Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:

The Permaculture Specialist will be responsible for design, implementation, maintenance and sustainability of

the pedagogical gardens on the Farm. The Specialist will work with the existing farm plan to optimize the farm

infrastructure, including agricultural zones, date trees, greenhouses, ponds, shop, outdoor facilities, etc. The

Specialist will also be expected to support external advisory projects. In addition, the Permaculture Specialist

will be responsible for creating permaculture curriculums, and delivering workshops, seminars and lectures to

schools, universities, and other parties visiting the Farm.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


1. Provide daily oversight & management of the pedagogical gardens.

2. Co-ordinate daily schedules and work planning for education team.

3. Create and design curriculums on permaculture, gardening, harvesting, composting, and other

fundamental agricultural and farming concepts.

4. Building relationships with schools and designing programs with students

5. Creating partnerships and collaborations with both domestic and international organizations.

6. Provide design concepts for external projects that arise from time to time.

Skills

EDUCATION: (Including Certifications and Trainings if required)

  • Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) from an internationally recognized organization or teacher.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Five or more years of experience in Permaculture Design Teaching, and/or Consulting

COMPETENCIES: (Knowledge. specific job skills, communication skills and behavioral attributes)

  • Passionate about nature and the environment and able to share that knowledge.
  • Fully aware that permaculture design involves more than gardening and farming, is an integrated
  • design system involving all aspects of human settlements, and not simply an agriculture/gardening set
  • of methods/techniques.
  • Resourceful and able to think creatively to get maximum value from a limited budget.
  • Highly-organized with great attention to detail.
