Senior Environmental Specialist

Key Accountabilities 

• Maintain and improve the Environmental Management System (EMS) for Matar by following and improving the Matar Environment Management Plan (EMP) to ensure all EMS processes are implemented effectively.
• Plan and conduct internal and external EMS audits by developing and following audit plan to ensure ensure compliance and conformity with the ISO14001 standard.
• Prepare, review and maintain EMS documentation by following various document control processes to ensure the EMS documentation are adequate and effectively maintained as per ISO 14001 requirements
• Promote environmental awareness through planning and conducting various environment events, trainings and communications to ensure EMS communication and awareness plan are delivered on time.
• Prepare EMS reports through collecting and analyzing environmental data for management review.
• Identify environmental risks and controls by following environmental aspects and impacts procedures to ensure environmental risks are managed at an acceptable level with adequate controls.
• Evaluate environmental opportunities and coordinate for implementation by engaging respective airport stakeholders and SMEs to ensure the continuous improvement on environmental performance.
• Maintain and improve environmental emergency response plan in coordination with respective process owners to ensure environmental emergency response exercises, trainings and procedures are effectively implemented as per ISO14001 requirements.
• Optimize and integrate EMS processes with other management systems in coordination with respective process owners to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the EMS.
• Evaluate environmental compliance by improving and following EMP process to ensure the fulfillment of the compliance obligations to the State of Qatar environmental legislations.
• Conduct investigation on environmental non-conformances through determining the root causes and developing appropriate and effective corrective actions and/or preventive actions to prevent re-occurrence.
• Facilitate various EMS review meetings through preparing meeting materials, scheduling, recording minutes of meeting and coordinating outstanding actions to ensure the compliance of ISO14001 and Matar EMP requirements on management review.
• Implement EMS for new scoped area by following EMP processes to ensure all ISO14001 requirements are met for accreditation.
• Perform other department/ section duties related to his/her position as directed by the Head of the Department
