Design Manager

- Must have strong client liaison skills at top management level.

- Must be able to appraise client requirements and reflect them into a strong design concept.

- Must receive and report on the client’s requirements with regard to:

(a) The client’s brief (b) The site and rights and constraints (c) Budgetary constraints

Concept design

Must have strong conceptual design abilities, concept diagram preparation and broad spectrum of building typologies, commercial housing projects, commercial residential apartment blocks and high rise blocks, schools, commercial office buildings and other commercial building types.

(a) Must prepare an initial design and advise on the intended space provisions and planning relationships proposed materials and intended building services the technical and functional characteristics of the design

(b) Check for conformity of the concept with the rights to the use of the land

(c) Review the anticipated costs of the project

(d) Review the project program

Design development

(a) Confirm the scope and complexity

(b) Review the design and consult with local and statutory authorities

(c) Develop the design, construction system, materials and components

(d) Incorporate all services and the work of consultants

(e) Review the design, costing and program with the consultants

- Detail technical design criteria: Must be familiar with detail design documentation.

- Must be able to liaise at an executive level with good communications skills, language & written.

- Must have the ability to mentor young architects in all aspects, design presentation, design documentation, detailed documentation and the like.

- Must be able to complete work in specific time frames.

- Must have a good work ethic and presentable appearance

-Based on the design program, control the quality of the design work in terms of different design phases: master plan, conceptual design, schematic design and design development
