Simple: by doing good. There's a reason why CSR exists; it helps companies reaffirm their position as active members of their community in time of crisis. So in case you suffer from negative publicity, rebound with a good CSR plan.

If something went wrong with company image and reputation, never say " no commnet" or keep slient. yuo have to use all tools of crisis managmnet set, talk to the press, public, suppliers, employees. yuo should all the informed and your side of story, what went wrong and most important - what is being done to recover from it and prevent. you have to make sure that your employees don't talk to the press without any permission, it's better when a right person will talk to the journalists.

Right after, you have to produce some positive PR and emphasise on successful stories or projects, well as use CSR tools and tell to the public what positive things your company is proud of.
