Job Description

  • Infrastructure team project planning and project management
  • Managing server delivery following industry standard processes
  • Participate as assigned in the IT Change Control Process
  • Evaluation of new/proposed products (software and hardware) and design/engineering of solutions to integrate with existing infrastructure and systems;
  • Ensure that systems are designed for both cost effectiveness and for maximum benefit toward student achievement
  • Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure infrastructure products and services
  • Design, install, configure, monitor, document, and troubleshoot Cisco and Aruba
  • LAN, WAN, and Wireless network infrastructure, including problem determination and resolution as well as root cause analysis
  • Assist with server and security audits
  • Virtual Infrastructure and storage (VMware Environment) monitoring, management, and troubleshooting
  • Data Center and Network Alarm (environmental and connectivity) monitoring and response
  • Ensure network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, fax machines, and other network appliances
  • Windows infrastructure administration and workstation management
  • Responsible for systems backup and recovery
  • Design, engineering, management, and troubleshooting for communications systems including: Unified communications, SIP telco services, and IP intercom systems
  • Assess and scan servers, workstations, and applications for vulnerability
  • Install, configure, operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and report on Perimeter Firewall/Web Content Filter Appliance
  • Manage Wireless network security, web content filter for offsite devices, VPN/Remote Access and configuration
  • Coordinate preparation of the Infrastructure for testing (devices, servers, networks)
  • Assist as point of contact for technical issues with LMS Solutions and COE
  • Troubleshoot user problems escalated from the Service Desk or from other departments to ensure timely and effective resolution
  • Work with Student Affairs administrators to ensure IT infrastructure is reliable, timely, and performs as required to support business and education applications
  • Deliver new projects on time, at scope, and within budget
  • Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team.
  • Enforce and follow ITSM policies, procedures and best practices
  • In relation to assessed business needs, evaluates and makes recommendations to IT Manager on new technologies, equipment, processes and standards for network and infrastructure hardware and software
  • Performs capa and resource planning activities, assesses system risks and makes contingency plans
  • Support on LMS - applications and technology, develops procedures; prepares training and other support materials to assist staff and the public
  • Collaborates on cross-functional teams with and external staff
  • Maintains professional knowledge and awareness of best practices; participates in training sessions and staff meetings

Skills

  • Experience configuring and managing IT infrastructure including servers, operating systems, anti-virus software, backups, group policies, Active Directory, permissions, DNS, DHCP, MS SQL relational databases, domains, networking protocols
  • Expert level knowledge of O365/ G- Suite to do implementation, management, maintenance and troubleshoot issues
  • Experience with SAN in upgrading firmware, Storage management & maintenance
  • Proven experience and success with LAN, WAN, WLAN, and WWAN design and implementation.
  • Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.
  • Excellent hardware and software troubleshooting experience.
  • Extensive application support experience with Active Directory, eDirectory, Aruba,
  • AirWave, Aruba ClearPass, VMware, Fortinet/FortiGate, etc.
  • Competence with testing tools and procedures for voice and data circuits.
  • Good understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives. Experience configuring, managing and monitoring VMware and SAN environments
  • Experience configuring and maintaining Veeam backup software solution and responsible for daily backup jobs management
  • Experience working with and a good understanding of networking equipment such as routers, switches
  • Experience in application administration and support, preferably in an education environment
